Create Your Microkeeper Account

This is the first step of Quick Start. It creates your Microkeeper account and your administrator login, then sets the details the rest of your setup relies on.

By the end of this step you'll have:

  1. Signed up and logged in for the first time.
  2. Chosen your working week.
  3. Added your business address and phone number.
  4. Changed your temporary password to your own.

Before you create your account

You'll need:

  • Your work or business email address.
  • Your business ABN.
  • A mobile phone that can receive an SMS.

Sign up for Microkeeper

Click Start Trial at the top of the Microkeeper website.

  1. Enter your work or business email, then click Next. If you use a personal address such as Gmail, Microkeeper recommends a work email; click Proceed to keep the address you entered.
  2. Microkeeper emails you a 6-digit PIN. Enter it in the boxes on the We've sent you an email screen.
  3. On Got your ABN handy?, enter your ABN. Microkeeper looks it up with the ATO and shows your business name. Check it's the right business, then click Next.
  4. On Let's get to know your business better, choose how many staff will use Microkeeper, your industry and how you heard about us, then click Next.
  5. On Almost done! Just a few more details, enter your given name and surname. Microkeeper shows the username you'll log in with.
  6. Choose Your Position, tick to agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, then click Next.
  7. On Get your login details!, choose your country code, enter your mobile number and click Send SMS.
  8. Enter the 6-digit code from the SMS.

Info

The 6-digit code from the SMS is also your first password. Keep it handy until you've changed your password later in this step.

Your account is created, and the Login button appears with your username.

Log in and choose your working week

  1. Click Login. The login page opens with your username and password already filled in. Click Login again.
  2. The Welcome to Microkeeper screen asks What do you consider your working week? Choose the days your week runs, for example Monday to Sunday.
  3. Click Submit.

Microkeeper opens your Global Settings, ready for the next part of this step.

Add your business contact details

Global Settings opens at Business Contact Information. To come back to it later, navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Global.

  1. Start typing your business address in Search for address and choose it from the list. If it isn't listed, fill in Address Line 1, City/Suburb, the state and the postcode yourself.
  2. Enter your business Phone number.
  3. Check the business name and email are correct.

Each field saves as soon as you move to the next one, and Saved appears.

Warning

Fill in the address, postcode and phone now. Nothing else asks for them, but Single Touch Payroll and super payments need them, and won't go through until they're entered.

The ABN you signed up with is shown here and can't be edited. To change it, contact the Microkeeper team.

Change your temporary password

Replace the SMS code you logged in with by a password of your own.

Navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Change Password.

  1. Enter the SMS code in Current password.
  2. Enter your new password in New password and again in Confirm new password.
  3. Click Update.

Your password needs at least 8 characters, with upper and lower case letters, a number and a special character. The Update button appears once the password meets these and both entries match.

Check your account is ready

Open the Microkeeper home page. The welcome screen is gone and the Launchpad appears instead. You're ready for the next step.

Next step: set up your ABN and pay cycles

Continue with Set Up Your ABN and Pay Cycles to add your pay cycles and the bank account your wages are paid from.
