Beam Error ERR053 The provided Electronic Service Address ESA is not valid?

Author Dylan Wong@Microkeeper
Category Superannutation
Last Modified 29/06/2026

The error: Validation errors from Beam Error - EE053 - The provided Electronic Service Address (ESA) is not valid - USI (SMSF Name). This appears when the ESA attached to the SMSF is invalid.

To resolve this issue we recommend to:

  1. Confirm ESA Details: Contact the employee to confirm that the Electronic Service Address (ESA) provided for their SMSF is correct.
  2. Update SMSF Settings: Once you have the correct ESA details, update the SMSF settings in your system.
    • Navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Super Settings.
    • Ensure that the ESA is correctly entered for the SMSF.
  3. Verify with the Fund: If the issue persists, contact the SMSF directly to verify that all details, including the ABN and ESA, are accurate and up-to-date.

Note for ESA's Superchoice or Australia Post:

The SMSF listed there has an ESA that have been recently been retired - https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals-and-families/super-for-individuals-and-families/self-managed-super-funds-smsf/smsf-newsroom/changes-to-the-register-of-smsf-messaging-providers

  • Superchoice ESA retired 5 May 2026
  • Australia Post ESA retired 30 June 2026

The SMSF will need to be configured with the new correct ESA. The employee themselves or their tax agent/accountant will know the changes to their new ESA.

You can update this on the Super Setting page - Navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Super Settings once you have the new ESA provider
